John Kronstain will take over as the school’s permanent principal on July 1.

Jessica K. Looman, Secretary of Labor of Virginia, and Nicole Overley, the Commissioner of Virginia Works, were on the campus of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center on Wednesday evening as part of the 2026 School-to-Work Signing Day Celebration.  

ACPS’s Family Council launched an official partnership in 2023, though teachers used the platform before that. In all, DonorsChoose has helped raise over $500,000 for county schools. 

The organization awarded scholarships to students from all 11 of the city and county’s high schools.

Optimism and frustration over the collective bargaining bill were made apparent, as campus workers directly questioned Del. Amy Laufer over their exclusion.

The bill creates a public employee relations board, an impartial body that can hear disputes and render binding arbitration decisions.

A vote to rescind the board’s earlier decision failed Thursday night.

The “Rethink Revote” Rally aimed to pressure the board into changing its decision to bring back SROs.

Students will be showcasing and selling their pieces at the Crozet Artisan Depot on Saturday

Sands has led Virginia Tech since 2014.
