Albemarle School Board member Jim Dillenbeck held a community town hall Wednesday, speaking candidly about the division’s issues.

Dr. Chris Holstege of the Blue Ridge Poison Center detailed the dangerous and difficult to detect new class of synthetic opioids, orphines.

At 5:19 p.m. Tuesday, ACPD responded to a report of a “disorder call” with an ACPS school bus at intersection of Lambs Ln. and Hydraulic Rd.

The principals at Monticello High, Baker-Butler Elementary and Woodbrook Elementary Schools will all be out. An ACPS spokesperson declined to say whether the three were placed on leaves or share any more information about their absences.

Duncan said there is a “toxic culture” in the school division’s central office that needs to be independently investigated.

Storm, a former university administrator and member of the ACPS Long-Range Planning Advisory Committee, will serve through 2027.

The school division acknowledged it failed to notify the public in the timeline prescribed by Virginia law.
