The Charlottesville Police Department is alerting the public to a rise in scam calls involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officers and demanding payment for alleged missed court appearances.

Police are asking for help identifying a suspect in a March 13 robbery in the 700 block of Cherry Avenue.

Albemarle Police have released a mainly encouraging annual report showing major crimes and fatal traffic crashes down in the county in 2024.

Charlottesville Police and Fire are in front of the Virginia National Bank on Arlington Blvd off Emmet Street investigating a suspicious package.

The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) has issued updated information correcting earlier reports about Anthony D. Moreland, who left a secure probation program in Augusta County on March 12.
