CPD responded to a report of gunshots being fired around 4 p.m Sunday in the area of 11th St. NW and Grady Ave.

A 14-year-old juvenile has been charged for making a hoax bomb threat against the Waynesboro elementary school just days after a shooting.

Kejuan Augustus Anthony, 18, was arrested in the city Friday and charged with attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

CPD is circulating surveillance images of a suspect in Saturday’s shots fired incident on the city’s Downtown Mall, and asking the public for help identifying the man.

Barbara Tinder told Cville Right Now she has been frustrated by the investigation, but the Orange Police Department said it’s “been dedicated since it began.”

The division has an independent company, VACORP, conducting a security assessment of Waynesboro schools.

Multiple shell casings were found after a shooting in front of the CVS on East Main St. early Saturday morning. No injuries were reported.

21-year-old Anthony Hopkins has been the only person charged in last year’s shooting, but ballistic analysis connected the 31 found shell casings to six different firearms.

An out-of-state tip warned that the school could be a target on Tuesday, but WPD located a suspect and determined that to be a hoax.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
