Dr. Nabil Zakhary Hanna, 84, of Charlottesville, Virginia died on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the University of Virginia Medical
Hospital.
Born October 8, 1939 in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Nabil Hanna was the son of Zekya & Zakhary Hanna. He was preceded in death by his father, Zakhary Hanna; his mother, Zekya Hanna; brothers, Maher Hanna, Zohair Hanna, and Maurice Hanna; and his sisters, Jula Hanna, and Laurice Hanna.
Dr. Nabil Hanna was the love of our life. He was a joyful soul that loved to laugh, eat, dance, swim, and be surrounded by family and friends. Dr. Hanna immigrated to America in 1969 with $249, a suitcase of clothes, and his Veterinary Medical Degree from Cairo University. His wife, Kamilia, followed shortly thereafter. Dr. Hanna did his post-graduate studies at Cornell University. Together, Nabil and Kamilia created an unbelievable life filled with laughter, love, children, grandchildren, and friends across the world. He lived a great life and left a hole in our hearts, but a roadmap on how to model our lives. As he used to say (and we agree): he’s “The Original”.
Dr. Nabil Hanna is survived by wife Kamilia Hanna of Charlottesville, Va.; daughter, Carol Mansour and her husband Ralph Mansour of Flower Mound, Texas; and their children Mark and Danielle; daughter Claudia Veysel and her husband Ant Veysel of Charlottesville, Va. and their children Ella, Benjamin, and Vivienne; and son John Hanna and his wife Loubna Hanna of Herndon, Va., and their children Adam and Zachary.
Special thank you to Dr. Elizabeth Lyons and the staff at the University of Virginia Medical and Neurological ICUs for their care.
