CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A transformer fire at the 11th Street Parking Garage led to fire and police activity and a directive to avoid the area on Thursday afternoon.

A UVA emergency alert issued at approximately 7:00 p.m. asked people to avoid the area. Conditions were stabilized approximately 30 minutes later. The cause and extent of damage, if any, has yet to be released.
