HARRISONBURG (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/WHSV) – The Harrisonburg Police Department is urging web surfers not to click links on its X page as it was hacked over the weekend and now claims to be the account of the current Liberian President Joseph Boakai. It happened sometime Saturday, March 23 and WHSV TV has found it claims to be “verified”, though it is a hacked page, and it actually has the most followers among the accounts claiming to be President Boakai. It has since gained 50,000 followers. Many of the posts and links claim to lead someone to crypto information, and a few of the original HPD images continue to populate the page.

Harrisonburg Police has posted on its Facebook page, “The Harrisonburg Police Department’s X account (formerly Twitter) has been compromised. Please do not click any links posted by the account or accept any message requests, follow requests, etc., until the issue has been resolved.” See WHSV’s report by clicking here.
