PALMYRA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Lake Monticello Police and the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office are investigating as a hate crime a threat last week that caused postponement of a charity drag show that was supposed to be this past weekend at Lake Monticello’s Bunker Bistro. Event organizers says the Lake Monticello Owners’ Association received a “threat of violence” against the sold-out February 22 Drag Brunch. LMOA and DocRun Hospitality decided to postpone the event “for law enforcement investigations”.  Law enforcement say it’s an active investigation and no other information is available at this time. Anyone with information is urged to contact Lake Monticello Police Chief David Wells at 434-589-8211.

Some proceeds of the show were to benefit the JD Dickinson Foundation… which raises money for his two daughters as well as provide scholarships to two high school seniors. Dickinson, an avid golfer who worked in that industry and voice of the Fluvanna High football team, died suddenly of a blood clot at age 39 in 2014.
