Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Local journalist Sean Tubbs from infocville.com joined Cville Right Now Live to discuss key civic meetings in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The focus of the conversation was the Albemarle Economic Development Authority’s upcoming meeting regarding the local wine industry’s potential for growth. Tubbs noted the area’s wine industry, which employs about 1,300 people, and highlighted that “there’s been a lot of successes in the wine industry in the last 10 to 15 years.” He mentioned a recent study evaluating how the industry could expand further in the region, particularly in the Go Virginia 9 area, which includes Charlottesville and surrounding counties. 

Tubbs also turned to Albemarle County’s economic outlook report, which will be presented this Wednesday, October 16th. The report, created by Virginia Tech’s School of Public Affairs, offers insights into local wage growth and housing prices. Tubbs emphasized that “wage growth is up in our area, in our metropolitan statistical area compared to the rest of the state,” though he acknowledged that not all residents feel the benefits due to inflation and other economic pressures.
