UPDATE: DHS takes down “sanctuary list” that included Albemarle, Cville, and Augusta

Albemarle County said Friday it is aware it has been included in the Department of Homeland Security’s list of sanctuary jurisdictions but has had no communication with the federal government about that inclusion. The county has reached out for more information.

Virginia Spring Wildfire Season saw more incidents in 2025 burning much less acreage than 2024

The Virginia Department of Forestry reports suppressing 437 wildfires during the spring fire season February 15 through April 30 this year that burned more than 8100 acres and destroyed 66 structures, including 22 homes.
