CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A suspected MS-13 gang member in the United States illegally from Honduras was among 26 undocumented people arrested Thursday in Ruckersville in a joint operation between ICE and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Cville Right Now on Sunday.
Ruben Adeli Delcid entered the U.S. “at an unknown time and place” according to the DHS, which believes Delcid is a member of MS-13. The arrests also included others “with previous charges including assault, hit and run, disorderly conduct, and DUI,” the spokesperson said.
“The illegal aliens will remain in ICE custody pending their immigration proceedings,” the spokesperson said.
They did not specify where the people taken into custody Thursday being detained.
A witness to Thursday’s operation told Cville Right Now that Greene County deputies arrested an entire crew from a local gutter, roofing, siding, and deck company. The witness said one of the men arrested was zip-tied by the deputies.
The Greene County Sheriff’s office did not respond to multiple emails from Cville Right Now.
Under Sheriff Steve Smith, Greene County is one of 28 Virginia law enforcement agencies part of the DHS’s 287(g) program where local entities work in partnership with ICE, a list that also includes sheriff’s offices in Buckingham and Shenandoah County.
Nationally, 181 agencies across 39 states are currently part of the program, according to the DHS.
