CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 73-year old man reported missing late Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Wilson St. in Louisa County was found dead a few hours later in Lake Anna, according to the Louisa Co. Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were initially called to the area on the lake near Bumpass around 1:33 p.m. to look for Craig Leslie Denbrook who was last seen around 11:20 a.m. A short time later, they found a footprint leading into the water, according to a release.
“Emergency personnel from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Louisa County Fire and EMS, Spotsylvania Fire and EMS, and the Spotsylvania County Dive Team conducted an extensive search of Lake Anna and the surrounding area,” the release said. “Denbrook was subsequently located in the water and was pronounced deceased.”
The death is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
“Sheriff Donald A. Lowe and the members of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office extend their deepest condolences to Mr. Denbrook’s family and loved ones,” said a sheriff office statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”
