CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – “UVA steals from children”… a strongly worded flyer Indivisible Charlottesville is dispensing announcing a Thursday afternoon protest in front of the FEI property on Emmet Street. Angered over UVA being the recipient of the property after it was first awarded to Charlottesville City Public Schools, the group is urging citizens to call or email UVA President Jim Ryan “telling him to rescind UVA’s application for the property”. Indivisible says community groups urged UVA at the time to withdraw the application they initally submitted after Charlottesville schools’ announced they applied as UVA’s involvement would lessen CCPS’s chances. Indivisible says city schools parents, teachers, and students will gather in front of the FEI at 5:30 Thursday afternoon as they say UVA does not need more property in Charlottesville, while our children need improved schooling opportunities.
