CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Former St. Anne’s Belfield basketball coach Damin Altizer is joining Aaron Roussell’s Virginia women’s basketball staff as the Cavaliers’ Director of Player Development.

Altizer, a Millsboro native, spent seven seasons coaching the STAB boys’ team and one year leading the Covenant girls. Since 2012, Altizer has been running a side business training basketball players, including former UVA stars and current professional players Ty Jerome, De’Andre Hunter and Trey Murphy.

“I feel very fortunate to add Damin to our staff,” Roussell said in a statement released by UVA. “Damin is in the top tier of player development coaches in the county and is a natural fit philosophically with the rest of our coaches. We want to prepare our players to succeed at the next level and Damin has proven he can do that at an elite level.”

Altizer walked on at UVA for the 2006-07 season and graduated in 2009.

Roussell is heading into his first season leading the Cavaliers. He spent seven seasons coaching Richmond, going 148-72, including an 83-21 mark with three NCAA appearances the last three years.
