Albemarle Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Hingeley discussed the new “Clean Slate Law” which seals certain types of criminal offenses from being part of the public record so that it doesn’t prevent those with criminal records from encountering barriers to employment and housing. The law excludes violent and other types of offenders and there are circumstances when the records can be unsealed.
