School Board Chair Rebecca Berlin confirmed that the Board did not learn of the investigation into Michael Swiney until the day before his June arrest, despite the investigation starting in January.

In a letter to the Governor and Attorney General, McGuire expressed concern of how long it took the school division to notify parents of the investigation into former staffer Michael Swiney, who has since been charged with sex crimes against children.

ACPS had previously announced it would name an interim principal for the coming school, then launch a search for a permanent replacement in February.
