CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The South Fork Rivanna Reservoir boat ramp on Woodburn Road at the South Rivanna Water Treatment Plant site will be closed from Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. through Friday, April 12, 2024.

The closure will allow preliminary field work to begin the design of RWSA’s new raw water intake structure and pump station at the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir.  Because work on the reservoir will require the use of a barge, RWSA asks that people please stay away from the barge while boating for their safety.

This project is an integral component of the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir to Ragged Mountain Reservoir water line project, which will improve the long-term reliability of RWSA’s drinking water system during periods of uncertain climate conditions and drought.

Alternate access to the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir is available at the existing boat ramp on Woodlands Blvd. near the intersection with Earlysville Road.
