ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – What started as a routine traffic stop for speeding and following too closely on Interstate 81 led to the discovery of 123 lbs. of marijuana inside a minivan in the heart of Harrisonburg on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

At 2:17 p.m., state troopers initiated a traffic stop at mile marker 246, which is located between the Route 33 and Port Republic Road exits. During the stop, the driver consented to a search of his 2024 Toyota Sienna. It was then that troopers discovered multiple boxes containing 123 vacuum sealed packages of marijuana, with an estimated street value of over $500,000.

Jun Yan, 45, was transported to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Regional Jail, where the Fresh Meadows, NY man was held without bond. He faces charges of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and transporting more than five pounds of marijuana into the Commonwealth.
