CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Emmet Street has been closed in both directions near John Paul Jones Arena due to a reported gas leak near 400 Emmet Street.

The Charlottesville Fire Department and Charlottesville Utilities are both on the scene responding to the incident.

Motorists have been asked by the city to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
