CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UPDATED STORY: Charlottesville Police have a man in custody in one of three shots-fired incidents within 8 hours of each other in the city. The first two happened within five minutes of each other… both around 5pm, first at 6th Street SE and Monticello Avenue, then about a half-mile away in the 1400 block of Midland Street. Police now say an occupied vehicle and residence were struck in the 6th Street shooting and Charlottesville resident Malik Luck was taken into custody later in the day. A firearm was recovered, and 12 shell casings were found.
Nine casings were recovered from Midland and now we find an occupied building and vehicle were also hit there. A stolen vehicle associated with this incident was found in Belmont Park and a firearm also found.
Around 1 Tuesday morning, police responded to the 900 block of South 1st Street to gunshots and found 69 shell casings there.
CPD continues a special operation focused on illegal possession of firearms, and individuals committing gun violence.
Luck is charged with attempted malicious wounding and two firearms charges.

ORIGINAL: Charlottesville Police are investigating another three shots fired incidents Monday afternoon into the overnight. The first two happened around 5 Monday afternoon. The first call came from the vicinity of 6th Street SE and Monticello Avenue, and the second call coming from the 1400 block of Midland Street… about a half-mile away from the first report. There are no reported injuries, nor was anything hit.
Then around 1 this (Tuesday) morning, a report of multiple shots fired in the 900 block of South 1st Street. No injuries or property damage, but a number of shell casings were found.
All these investigations are ongoing.
