CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Increased river access and increased path connectivity are some of the theme before City Council Monday night as they begin considering a 10-year Parks and Recreation Master Plan to insert into the city’s comprehensive plan. Mike Svetz with parks and sports complexes firm, Pros Consulting, said this plan is proposed after priorities heard in myriad public engagement. in a presentation to the City Planning Commission two weeks ago, Svetz said right now there are only four formal public access points to the river while there are a bunch of self-made access points that present safety issues. They’re also proposing more than 20 new connections of shared-used paths what add about 12 miles to the current 8-to-9 miles.
