CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – “We’re terrified… we are terrified”.
Those are the words of Charlottesville Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania on Morning News about a spate of recent shots fired incidents in the area the past couple of weeks.
Although there’s been some property damage in some of the recent calls, no one’s been hit. But Platania says “that’s just sheer blind luck”.

Platania says we need to get some things done about the gun violence in very short order. He says summer’s coming, which is a time when violent crime traditionally increases as more people get out in the warmer weather. That’s one of the reasons Police Chief Michael Kochis posted the video he did on social media last week. Platania says it’s still a matter of too many juveniles using guns to dealing with conflicts, and having those guns too readily available to them.

Platania says the violence has no boundaries. It’s a matter we have to deal with regionally, and a number of various law enforcement in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, UVa meet regularly to discuss approaches and collaboration.
