ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A man who was already wanted in Albemarle County, Ta’Quan L. Anderson, 36, of Charlottesville, is under arrest after a Thursday morning hit and run.

At approximately 10:50 a.m., 911 caller reported a vehicle crash in which the driver had headed off toward the 400 block of Woodbrook Drive.

The responding officer soon located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby business.  During the encounter, Anderson allegedly provided false information. Once the officer was able to confirm it, he attempted to detain Anderson. A struggle ensued when Anderson resisted. The officer then deployed a taser. Anderson tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

Anderson was charged with tw0 felony counts of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon, hit-and-run, obstruction of justice, consuming alcohol while driving and drunk in public.

Multiple suspected narcotics were recovered during this incident. Additional charges are possible pending further investigation and lab results.

The charges on which he was already wanted in Albemarle County are driving under the influence and a felony probation violation stemming from an assault on law enforcement charge.

Anderson is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
