GOOCHLAND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – According to Virginia State Police (VSP), an unidentified man from Louisa man rear-ended a motorcycle on I-64 at approximately 12:41 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, resulting in a fatality.

VSP states in a news release that a 2024 Kia Forte, driven by a 20-year old male from Louisa, rear ended a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Shawn Michael Jones, 49, from Mechanicsville. The motorcycle lost control and struck the guardrail. The Kia then lost control, rolled onto its side, and struck the guardrail on the left shoulder.

Jones succumbed to injuries at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Kia suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
