CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Charlottesville Police say a Gordonsville man is dead, and his alleged juvenile shooter taken to UVa in critical condition after a Saturday afternoon altercation inside the Sunshine MiniMart on Cherry Avenue. Chief Michael Kochis says the shootings do not appear to be random, and there’s no threat to the community. CPD says 20-year old Justice Kilel of Gordonsville was inside the store purchasing an item when the 17-year alleged assailant entered the store along with 19-year old Nasier McGhee. Investigators say McGhee and the 17-year old began assaulting Kilel when during the altercation, two of the men fired shots.

CPD was called to the scene shortly after 2pm and found Kilel dead at the scene, and the 17-year old wounded. He was admitted to UVa in critical condition. McGhee had driven away.

A short time later, Albemarle police went to the Timberland Apartments off Old Lynchburg Road in Albemarle County in association with a vehicle described to have been at the murder scene.  It’s there McGhee was apprehended.  Residents were issued a shelter in place alert during the action at that scene.

The juvenile is charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The name is not released because of age. McGhee is charged with malicious wounding. Investigators believe this altercation was part of an ongoing dispute between the suspects and victim.
