COVESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fatal fire in southern Albemarle over the weekend. Fire units were dispatched shortly after 5 Saturday afternoon to the 6000 block of Monacan Trail Road near Covesville. They arrived 16 minutes later to discover a single-family home heavily involved in flames. The one resident inside was unable to escape.

The victim was found dead at the scene, and identification being withheld pending family notification. While the cause of the fire is under investigation, the fire marshal does not believe it to be suspicious.
