It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Detra Page Eubanks, aged 51, a resident of Charlottesville, Virginia, who peacefully transitioned to her eternal home surrounded by family and friends, on January 6, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born on May 7, 1972, she was the beloved daughter of Edward Nathaniel Eubanks and Barbara Ann Brown Eubanks. Detra is reunited in death with her paternal grandparents, John and Curtis Eubanks, and maternal grandparents, Walter and Francis Brown and Dustin “Dee-Kay” Knighton.
Detra’s spiritual journey began at a tender age when she embraced Christ and was baptized during vacation Bible school at High Street Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. She later became a devoted member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. As a young adult, Detra’s passion for gospel music flourished as a member of various gospel choirs, notably the University of Virginia Gospel Choir, Pilgrim Baptist Choir and Jerusalem Baptist Church. Her mesmerizing gospel voice brought joy and solace to countless hearts.
A graduate of Albemarle High School in 1990. Detra pursued her education at Piedmont Community College. Throughout her professional life, she dedicated herself to the medical field, serving in roles ranging from Pediatrics to Endocrinology.
Detra was a devoted servant of the Lord until her final moments. Her love for her family was boundless, finding joy in their gatherings and dance parties. She loved sports and enjoyed cheering on the Washington Commanders and Golden State Warriors.
Detra leaves behind cherished memories for her beautiful daughters, Xiomara Eubanks-Arce and Makia Eubanks-Bibb, her loving parents, Edward and Barbara Eubanks, her older brother, Thomas Eubanks and his wife Amy, and younger sister, Keisa Eubanks, as well as her nieces, Keiona and Kiara Blakey, her nephew, Keshon Blakey. She also leaves fond memories for Uncle Ben and Aunt Reva Carr, and Uncle Cecil and Aunt Eunice Morrison, and a multitude of close cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who loved her dearly.
Her legacy of love, devotion to family, and remarkable gospel talent will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were touched by her presence. Detra’s spirit lives on through the music she shared and the love she showered upon her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
