CHURCHVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office says there’s no threat to the community after they responded and shut down two schools after a report of a guy inside a residence with a rifle in Churchville Monday morning. A sheriff’s office release doesn’t give a time, but said deputies responded to the 3600 block of Churchville Avenue about the guy inside his residence carrying a rifle and wearing a bulletproof vest. Out of an abundance of caution, Churchville Elementary and the Bison Beginnings Early Learning Center were secured, and the children brought inside. Deputies made contact with man, determined no threat, and the schools were placed back on regular schedules.
