CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Charlottesville Police Department is asking for help in identifying a man who assaulted a woman on May 1, 2024.
The woman was near Riverview Park when a thin white male in his late teens, with shaggy blond hair and a mustache approached an adult female. After making several statements to her, he touched her backside. The woman shoved him away, at which point he fled the area on foot.
Upon receiving the report, officers responded to the area of the park and connected trails, providing extra patrols throughout the evening. Detectives have continued to canvas the area for witnesses and video evidence. Based on the differing suspect description, age range, and the fact that a statement was made to the victim, the Charlottesville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division believes the incident is not related to previously reported assaults on the Rivanna Trail, which remain open and active investigations.
Anyone who has security cameras in the area or any other information related to the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000.
