CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – UVa Health and Sentara Healthcare report they’re notifying those affected by a hack two months ago involving their third-party debt collection vendor. R&B Corporation of Virginia, which also does business under the name Credit Control Corporation, has sent out letters to impacted people that hackers copied some files as part of a cyber incident between March 2 and 7.
CCC notes they noticed unusual activity in its systems March 7, and immediately isolated them and started an investigation. The company started notifying its business partners about the breach May 4, and UVa Health and Sentara have posted notifications on their websites. Names, addresses, social security numbers, and other information in individual accounts are affected.
Anyone who thinks they may be affected can call an information line at 866-347-3197 Monday through Friday 9am-to-6:30pm.
