Friday, April 28: Family Skate Night at B. F. Yancey Community Center

Come and let the good times roll with music and skating at the Yancey Community Center in Esmont this Friday, April 28! Proceeds from refreshments will support the B.F. Yancey Food Pantry. We’ll have a tumbling space and playhouse available for kids 7 and under.

The cost is $3 per person (cash only) including a skate rental or $2 with your own skates. Adults should bring their own skates as sizes and quantities are limited.

Skate Times

  • 5:30 – 6:30 pm: Ages 3-12 (and their parents)
  • 7 – 8 pm: Ages 13-17 (and their parents)
  • 8 – 9 pm: Ages 18+

Saturday, April 29: Children’s Fishing Event at Mint Springs Valley Park

Calling all kids 12 and under for a fun day of fishing! The Mint Springs children’s fishing event is this Saturday, April 29, from 9 am-12 pm at Mint Springs Valley Park.

After 12 pm on April 29, the lakes will re-open for fishing to the general public. Please also note that Mint Springs Valley Park Lake will be closed to fishing on Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28, prior to the event. This event is sponsored by Albemarle County Parks and Recreation, Department of Wildlife Resources, Kingfishers, and Thomas Jefferson Chapter of Trout Unlimited. We hope you can join us!
