DOOMS, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has charged two men who accidentally shot a woman inside a camper while target practicing between Dooms and Crimora. The sheriff’s office got the call just before 5 Friday afternoon for a report in the 1100 block of East Side Highway of a possible gunshot wound. They arrived on the scene and found a 65-year old woman had minor injuries from a stray bullet, and was not transported.
They accuse 32-year old Michael Cappuzzo of Staunton and 26-year old Nicholas Cappuzzo of Waynesboro of shooting at targets, but with no adequate backstop. Investigators found bullets had struck two campers, one of which was occupied by the woman, and an outbuilding. Both Cappuzzos have been released on bond with a charge each of reckless handling of a firearm.
