CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — One occupant and their two dogs were displaced after a structure fire on the 300 block of Key West Drive Monday morning.

Albemarle County Fire Rescue career and volunteer personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The first fire suppression apparatus arrived approximately nine minutes later, encountering smoke visible from the front of the two-story residence.

The occupant and their dogs were able to self-evacuate from the home prior to the crew’s arrival and no injuries were reported.

The displaced resident is being assisted by friends and family.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental but remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office.
