CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Virginia will play Vanderbilt in football in a home-and-home series, UVA announced Friday.

The first game will be at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. in 2028 as part of the non-conference schedule.  The game will be played on September 16, 2028.

The second game, set to take place at Scott Stadium, will be played in 2031 at a date to be announced later.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series against the Cavaliers 12-7-2.  The September 2028 game will be the first time the ‘Hoos and Commodores have met since the 1975 season, which ended with a 17-14 Vanderbilt win.

The Commodores will be the first SEC team to play Virginia at Scott Stadium since the 2002 season.  That year, Virginia, under then-head coach Al Groh, took down South Carolina in front of 60,000 fans 34-21.

UVA will also face JMU and Richmond as part of its nonconference slate in 2028.
