CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/AP) – Monday morning service between New York’s LaGuardia airport and CHO was cancelled early Monday due to the New York’s airport’s shutdown because of a crash.
The CHO arrivals and departures board as of 6:35 Monday morning said a 7 a.m. scheduled departure and 1:35 p.m. Monday arrival were both cancelled.
LaGuardia is scheduled to reopen at 2 p.m. according to CBS News, and a 2:15 CHO departure is still scheduled.
The next arrival from LaGuardia is 6:01 p.m. and that also is still scheduled.
The Associated Press reports two people were killed and several others injured when an Air Canada regional jet struck a fire truck on the runway while landing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
The collision late Sunday killed the pilot and copilot, who were both based out of Canada.
Authorities say 41 passengers and crew members aboard the flight were hospitalized, some with serious injuries.
Two Port Authority employees who were traveling in the fire truck also were injured.
