CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Both Virginia basketball squads came out swinging after the exam break with a John Paul Jones Arena doubleheader.  Amaka Agugua-Hamilton and the Cavalier women began the day against Winthrop at noon. The Hoos dominated the Eagles offensively from start to finish. The effort was headlined by Kymora Johnson, who set a new John Paul Jones Arena scoring record for both men and women with 41 points. Virginia won 88-53.

Later that day, the men’s squad took on old rival Maryland to a lively JPJ crowd.  The Hoos had three players reaching double figures; Dallin Hall dropped 20, Jacari White chipped in with 15 and Devin Tillis joined with 10 off the bench.  Further contributions from the bench allowed the Hoos to carry the day 80-72, improving to 7-0 at JPJ and 10-1 overall.  They will close the non-conference slate with a battle against American on Monday at 7 p.m.

Virginia wrestling headed to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, on Sunday for a quad meet with Hofstra, Bucknell, and Morgan State that proved to be historic for head coach Steve Garland.  The long-serving skipper took home career win No. 200 against Hofstra in the first dual of the day, a 29-9 victory.  A sweep of the dual meet earned Garland wins No. 201 and 202 over Morgan State and Bucknell.  Next, the Hoos will travel across the state into the heart of Philadelphia to battle Penn on Monday at 7 p.m.

This Saturday, Virginia football takes on Missouri in the Gator Bowl to conclude their 2025 campaign.  Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and you can listen live here at CvilleRightNow.com.
