CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia issued a safety advisory Sunday afternoon after a man attempted to carjack a victim at knifepoint at the intersection of University Ave. and 14th Street.

Charlottesville Police received a report of the incident from the intended victim, according to a UVA release, at approximately 12:58 p.m.

“The suspect is reported to have opened the car door of the reporting party and brandished what appeared to be a knife,” the UVA release said. “The suspect is described as being a male in his mid-30s, tall with a thin build, wearing a black beanie, a light brown jacket, and a dark shirt.
