CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Sen. Mark Warner announced Tuesday that he will seek re-election to the U.S. Congress. Warner, Virginia’s senior senator, has held his seat since 2009.
Emphasizing affordable housing, universal healthcare, growth in manufacturing, infrastructure improvements, gun control and support for veterans, Warner – Virginia’s governor from 2002-2006 – released a video declaring his bid.
“By winning in November, we can fight back against this administration and build a future where everyone has a fair shot,” the 70-year-old Democrat said in the video posted online.
In his last re-election, in 2020, Warner defeated Republican Daniel Gade with 56% of the vote, winning by over 500,000 total votes.
