CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A person who went missing – apparently while fishing from a riverbank late Sunday night at the South Fork Rivanna River Reservoir – was found deceased in the water Monday morning, the Albemarle County Police Department announced.

ACPD and Albemarle County Fire Rescue personnel began searching for a person, initially described as a male in his late teens, after receiving a report at approximately 9:50 p.m. “after a concerned citizen reported seeing evidence that an individual may have fallen into the water,” near the 240 block Woodlands Rd. according to ACPD.

A search, including drones, began and continued until about 1 a.m., when it was paused due to limited visibility, ACPD said. The search, which also included Virginia State Police personnel, resumed at daylight. At approximately 10:30 a.m., search crews located a deceased person in the water that they believed to be the missing person.
