CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Charlottesville family is asking for assistance after the parents were critically injured a Halloween night shooting at a party they were hosting.

Franklin Lindsay, one of four children in the family, posted a GoFundMe page seeking contributions to support the Lindsays in the wake of the shootings.

“On Halloween night, what was supposed to be a fun and safe celebration turned into a heartbreaking and traumatic memory for our family,” Franklin Lindsay’s message on the pages said. “Our mom, dad, and another guest were shot at the Halloween party we were hosting. Both of our parents were critically injured and are now facing a long and uncertain road to recovery.”

Charlottesville Police have arrested Juan Gavin Castillo, 20, of Greene County, and Kaijon Cortez Sholes, 20, of Charlottesville in connection with the shootings.

Castillo is charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of maliciously discharging a firearm within a building or dwelling.

Sholes has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, though other charges could be pending.

Four people, including Castillo, were shot in the incident, which police responded to shortly after midnight on Halloween in the 1100 block of River Road. A 44-year-old male, a 44-year-old female and 20-year-old male, all Charlottesville residents, were transported to UVA in stable condition at the time.

“Our family of six is doing everything we can to stay strong, but with our parents unable to work for the foreseeable future, we’re struggling to keep up with medical bills, household expenses, and basic needs,” Franklin Lindsay’s post said. “Right now, us four children are the only ones working, doing our best to hold things together and support each other through this unimaginable time. This experience has completely shaken our family to the core. The pain and fear we’re living with every day are overwhelming, but we’re holding on to hope and faith that our parents will heal.”
