CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UPDATE A 2:04 a.m., ACPD announced that the Scottsdale Road shelter-in-place advisory had been lifted.
Charlottesville Police responded to a report of gunshots near the intersection of 1st Street St and Hartmans Mill Road on Monday night, according to a release.
Police have closed the section of the two roads and a heavy police presence is expected to continue past midnight. According to CPD, “a significant number of cartridge casings have been located.”
Meanwhile, in the county, there was a heavy police presence at the 3400 block of Scottsville Road, from Hillsdale Farm to Thorn Rose Lane, forcing the closure of that roadway in both directions. Residents within a 2-mile radius of that location were advised to shelter in place by ACPD. The situation was lifted around 2 a.m.
Police have not yet provided details on either incident.
