ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle County Police Department has obtained warrants and charged a Charlottesville man in relation to the May 1 shooting at the Oak Hill Store and gas station that injured two people.

It was around 8:50 p.m. when officers responding to reported gunshots at the market, which hosts an Exxon station, arrived to find two people with non-life-threatening injuries and transported to UVA Medical Center.

ACPD has charged Amir Sumpter, 18, of Charlottesville, Va., with:

  • two counts of malicious wounding (18.2-51)
  • use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (18.2-53.1)
  • shooting into an occupied dwelling (18.2-279)
  • gang participation (18.2-46.2)
