CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Schools Superintendent Dr. Royal Gurley has named a long-time Cville schools veteran as the system’s new Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Anna Isley has been with Charlottesville schools in numerous capacities for nearly two decades. A city schools release says Dr. Isley started as a teacher at Sunrise — formerly Burnley-Moran — Elementary School in 2007, became an assistant principal and Summit –formerly Clark — Elementary. then moved on as an instructional coach at Greenbriar Elementary. In 2023, she became the school system’s Coordinator of Professional Learning and Gifted Instruction. She replaces Dr. Katina Otey who was in the position from 2020-to-2025 before moving on to become Charles City County’s Schools Superintendent.
