NORTONSVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – VDOT is advising a road closure for thru-traffic in the Nortonsville area of Albemarle County with the Friday morning closure of Markwood Road between Davis Shop and Lost Vallley roads. Pipe replacement means the road stretch in northwest Albemarle will close from 7am Friday, June 13 through 5pm Saturuday, June 14, weather permitting. Thru-traffic will have to use alternate routes, but local traffic will have access to their driveways.
During the roadwork, northbound Markwood Road traffic will turn left onto Davis Shop Road, right on Free Union Road, right on Boonesville Road, then right onto Simmons Gap Road that returns to Markwood. Southbound drivers follow the detour in reverse. Message boards are in place to advise drivers of the closure and detour. Current traffic conditions, VDOT’s statewide network of traffic cameras, and other real-time travel information are available on the 511Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.
