CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The fugitive whose foot chase from police during a traffic stop, has been arrested and taken into custody. According to Virginia State Police, Nyeem Hill, 19, was located and taken into custody without incident on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He has been charged with eluding, obstruction, two felony counts of hit and run, a misdemeanor count of hit and run, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, and an inspection violation.
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, a state trooper tried to pull over a Chevrolet Impala on Fontaine Avenue for an expired inspection sticker, but the driver refused, and a pursuit began. The driver, later identified as Hill, was taking Route 29 toward Ivy Road, when he allegedly hit two vehicles. He then jumped out of the car while it was still in motion, after which it hit a VSP vehicle. Hill ran from the scene, followed by a University of Virginia shelter-in-place order that stretched on for several hours. At approximately 1:45 p.m., officials received credible information that Hill had left the area, and UVA lifted the order.
Virginia State Police says in a news release that no further information will be provided. Hill was also wanted on warrants in Albemarle on charges of malicious wounding, malicious wounding by mob, and gang participation for an incident last year while incarcerated.
