ABINGDON, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Acting U.S. Attorney Zachary Lee announced Tuesday the Western District of Virginia collected over $11.7 million in criminal and civil actions in fiscal year 2024. He says more than $3.2 million came from criminal cases, while civil actions accounted for over $8.4 million
The district also teamed up with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices to secure an additional $19.8 million, mostly from civil cases. Lee, even though he’s “acting” status, emphasized his office is committed to ensuring those who violate federal law do not profit from their actions. Additionally, the district collected more than $54 million in asset forfeiture, which will be used to support crime victims and law enforcement efforts.
