ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Police are asking for information in a New Year’s Day shooting in the Brookdale Apartments.

First arrivers dispatched at 12:26 a.m. arrived to find a 19-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound for which he was taken to UVA Medical Center for treatment.

An investigation is underway, with anyone who has information asked to contact Det. Leitch with the Albemarle County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 296-5807. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 977-4000 or at crimestoppers@albemarle.org.

January 2, 2025, News Release

On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 12:26 am, the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a report of a shooting that occurred in the 900 block of Upper Brook Court.

Upon arrival, first responders located a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

This is an isolated incident with no threat to the public, and the investigation is ongoing.
