CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident involving a 3-year-old child in the 800 block of Hardy Drive.

The incident was reported at 4:39 p.m. on November 26, 2024. Upon arrival, responding officers learned from a witness that a male suspect had fired two shots at a vehicle occupied by an adult driver and a three-year-old child. The victims were not on scene when police arrived; however, detectives made contact with them a short time later at a separate location and confirmed that neither the driver nor the child were injured.

Security video from the area was collected, as well as a bullet fragment from the victim’s vehicle. An unidentified male suspect was observed on video and is believed to be involved in the shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect and victim may be acquainted and that this is not a random act of violence.
