Charlottesville, VA (Cvillerightnow.com): Virginia Head Football Coach Tony Elliot addressed the media Tuesday afternoon ahead of this Saturday’s regular season finale at Lane Stadium against the Virginia Tech Hokies. Despite a blowout loss to SMU this past Saturday at Scott Stadium, Elliot was optimistic going into the game with Tech. Like UVA, they have faced some injury issues throughout this season, and will be out some key pieces, particularly in their offense, against a Cavalier team looking for that elusive sixth win to earn bowl eligibility in 2024. Elliot revealed some good news on the injury front, Trell Harris has been definitively cleared to play, adding another strong target at Wide Receiver against the vaunted Tech defense. On the defensive side, Kam Robinson will most likely be an end-of-the-week decision. So too Kobe Pace, who remains questionable due to the hits he’s taken. One player at running back we will not be seeing is Xavier Brown, who has been definitively ruled out with shoulder issues. Coach Elliot took time to single out Ethan Minter, who came in last week and impressed with some reps at the Safety position after being recruited as a Quarterback going into his first year on grounds. One question presumably on everyone’s mind that was not posed to the coach is who will start under center for the Hoos on Saturday. After Anthony Colandrea led the UVA offense to just seven points against SMU, and with a dangerous pass-rush in Maroon taking the field at Lane, many are anxious to see who runs out first, the talented, speedy, but unpredictable Colandrea, or the sure-handed pocket passer from whom Colandrea won the starting job, Tony Muskett. Both teams need a win to qualify for a bowl game, both teams have identical records, and both will do everything in their power to win. There are staggering implications for what happens on Saturday night at 8:00 PM from Blacksburg.
