Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The 37th annual Virginia Film Festival, one of the largest cultural events in Charlottesville, is set to kick off at the end of the month with an exciting lineup of over 100 films. The event, led by Vice Provost for the Arts at the University of Virginia, Jody Kielbasa, promises a remarkable experience for film enthusiasts.

I really am just struck by how extraordinary the film program is this year,” said Kielbasa. “We have 10 films that will represent their respective countries in the Academy Awards… We just have amazing guests …like Lamorne Morris.”

The festival will also feature a documentary about legendary singer Luther Vandross, which Kielbasa revealed is part of the Black Excellence program. “All of your Luther Vandross fans, start getting your tickets on October 11th,” he encouraged.

Charlottesville residents and visitors alike are eager to attend, with many traveling from across the country to be part of the festival’s vibrant community experience, which includes panel discussions, expert-led film introductions, and engaging conversations after screenings.

Tickets will be available at virginiafilmfestival.org starting October 11th.
